New Aged Care Legislation

The new aged care legislation passed both houses of Parliament on 25 November 2024 and following Royal Assent It will become the new Aged Care Act from 1 July 2025. Draft Aged Care Standards

The draft Aged Care Quality Standards focus on basic infection prevention and control fundamentals - standard and transmission-based Precautions, responding to and managing outbreaks, and antimicrobial stewardship. The Aged Care Infection Prevention and Control Guide

The newly released IPC guide for aged care was published in August 2024 by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. It serves as a resource to outline IPC practices across various aged care settings. It supplements the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare, offering guidance for aged care environments.
